Engine Position Tracking IP Core for Encoder Patterns

small product photo

Please contact Drivven for pricing and additional information

  • Tracks angular position of engine crankshaft having a trigger pattern of N evenly spaced teeth with a separate single reference tooth per rotation (common to optical rotary encoders).
  • Tracks 360 degrees (720 degrees if cam-mounted)
  • Parameterized angular resolution by powers of 2
  • Maximum engine speed limited only by clock input frequency
  • Achieves engine sync on first detected reference tooth after a specified crank tooth count
  • Capable of adjusting engine position by 360 degrees upon request
  • Optionally remains synchronized at loss of reference tooth
  • Interrupt-style flags for no reference tooth and missed crank tooth (in case of false or missing crank teeth)
  • Supervises compatible engine synchronous output cores (fuel, spark, etc)
  • Provides the following output information to CPU and supervised cores:
    • Current position
    • Crank tooth period (Actual)
    • Crank tooth count
    • Current tooth period timer value
    • Crank tooth one-shot
    • Engine stalled signal
    • Sync stopped signal
    • Error flags
